My Son Was Healed by the Great Compassion Dharani

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as numerous as the 9.9 billion grains of Ganges sand, have spoken thus: people who chant the Great Compassion Dharani will receive protection from Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Dharma Protectors, and their karmic illness, and suffering will be removed. Numerous people have tested to the psychic and healing power of the dharani, and I am one of those people who have benefited from it. The following is my son's true story:

At the end of Feb 1993, my mother-in-law passed away and our family had to fly back to Taiwan to prepare her funeral. While we were attending to the funeral matters, my son suddenly became ill, and came down with a persistent, high fever. After seeing a doctor and taking some medicine, my son still didn't get any better. At night, the fever always returned. He also started refusing food and drink and even began throwing up. Since he didn't seem to be suffering from any ordinary kind of flu, I started to wonder if his illness was caused by some disturbance in his subtle energy field.

The day of the funeral, my son went with us to the crematorium. However, after the trip, he got worse. His tiny face turned pale, his eyes dulled, and a patch of blue appeared at his brow-point. Refusing food, he just wanted to sleep. Seeing him like that, I became alarmed and nervous and was at a loss at what to do. A Buddhist monk happened to be around, and he told us that harmonious flow of energy in my son's abdomen had been disturbed by an external force. So we asked him to energize a Fu for us. After burning the Fu and preparing some water from it, we gave it to our son to drink. His discomfort was slightly relieved. But the next day, the high fever returned, so we immediately took him to see a doctor. Finally the fever broke, but he was still sick. Looking at his thin, small figure which had gone through more than the days of suffering, great pain filled my heart. How I wish I could take over the pain for him.

A day after our return to the United States, my son was still lethargic and continued to throw p. His abdomen had became so distended and painful that he curled up holding his tummy with both hands. The same day, I happened to take down from the bookcase a book written by Grand Master Lu, the Secret Taoist Method of Spiritual Communication. On page 160, there was a passage on how one may eliminate fear. I read it carefully and learned that, just by chanting the Great Compassion Dharani, one may dispel fear in one's heart as well as elinimate karmic hindrances. I thought to myself, "since the power of the Great Compassion Dharani is so inconceivable, why don't I give it a try?"

I immediately went to get a piece of white string. After purifying it through the smoke of a burning incense, I placed it in front of the Kuan Yin statue at my altar. After lighting an incense, I told the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of my son's predicament, and prayed to them to resolve the crisis. Then I sincerely and reverently chanted 37 times the Great Compassion Dharani and proceeded to tie 21 knots on the piece of white string. When all was done, I put the string around my son's neck as a necklace.

The next day, things immediately started to brighten up, and my son looked much better. When evening came, we got ready to go to the Purple Lotus Society for group meditation. On the way in the car, my son spat up a greenish phlegm, then he fell asleep very peacefully. When we arrived at the Purple Lotus Society, he said he was hungry and wanted to have some food. At that moment, my heart filled with emotion and gratitude. I was grateful to the greatly compassionate Kuan Yin Bodhisattva for using her power to help my son, and I was also grateful to the compassionate Grand Master Lu for transmitting this dharani healing method to us.

After this incident, I chanted and prepared several Great Compassion Dharani necklaces---one for each of my nieces and nephews to wear. The healing power of the necklaces will give them protection and alleviate some of their karmic obscuration. In addition, every day I visualize the necklaces and Kuan Yin Bodhisattva radiating light on myself and the people around me. I also pray that all sentient beings will have their karmic hindrances and disasters eradicated.
